A few weeks back I had the pleasure of working with a young mother who was having issues with daily life. Homeless, unemployed, struggling to feed her children; she moved to Canton and was staying with a friend. Her friend brought her to Love INC, hoping to find some way to assist this struggling neighbor.

Ashamed to ask for help, she told me her heart-wrenching story; several times I almost teared up. When she had finished her story, I explained to her how Love INC could assist her with an offer to walk beside her. As I was telling her about all of our programs, I noticed that she was looking at me with a puzzled look on her face. I stopped talking about the programs and asked her if she had a question. Her reply was, “Why are you doing this? Why are you helping me?” I took time to inform her that Love INC is helping her because God has told us to help one another and she was one of God’s children. That statement brought tears to both of us and a smile towards each other.

When all questions were answered and assisting was completed, I asked the client if there was anything else we could help her with. With a small grin on her face she replied, “Could you pray for me?” I told her NO, but we can pray together to which she was very grateful.
